Bubo: A Sweet Spot in Barcelona

El Born is undoubtedly one of the most fashionable and up and coming areas in Barcelona. It offers many fashionable boutiques, unique art galleries, excellent restaurants and tapas. Walking through the El Born feels as though you are walking through an old city from the medieval times but it is undeniably dynamic and vibrant. El Born offers beautiful architecture and history - and in the 1980s the city began a major renovation of the area which explains its dynamism today. It is easy to get lost in the magic and energy of El Born. Weave your way through the alleyways and visit the Picasso Museum, Palau de la Musica and the church of Santa Maria del Mar - right across from the best dessert shop in the city!

If you're in the mood for something sweet, stop in at Bubo - it has  a lovely ambience, friendly staff and mouthwatering desserts. Carles Mampel, the award winning  and passionate pastry chef who created Bubo in 2005 attracts loyal clients who are drawn in by the exquisite interior and the scrumptious delicacies. Carles believes that the visual aspect of the eating experience is just as important as the taste - his desserts taste as look as good as they taste!

There are rows and rows of many different types of chocolates and pastries to choose from to suit everyone's palettes. It is easy to feel like a kid in a candy store - except this pastry spot is quite a bit more sophisticated and luxurious.

A must have for chocolate lovers is the Xabina cake - a small vanilla cake with pralines, chocolate mousse and drizzled with a molten chocolate lava. Savour this cake slowly and enjoy every bite because you will miss it when it's gone. You will understand why this dessert won Lyon's award for the best chocolate cake in 2005!

If you find yourself strolling down Paseo de Gracia, stop in at Bubo in Boulevard Rosa. It is just down the street from the Barcelona Sotheby's International Realty office and amongst some of the city's best shopping and architecture. Bubo also has another location in the Pedralbes Shopping Centre which opened in 2009. Make sure to visit this Barcelona sweet spot and find out why it is a favourite of so many!
